Diabetes:

The goal of the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation is to be "out of business" by the year 2121. By this time, propelled by the tremendous progress of diabetes research, "we hope to put diabetes on the list of conquered diseases like smallpox and polio."

What can you do?

Diabetes is a serious condition, which you probably don't understand fully unless you have it yourself. Find out more about the disease at your local library or on the internet - perhaps you could organise a 'diabetes awareness week' with your friends at school.

Funding research into cures is very expensive. Organisations like the Juvenile Diabetes foundation are good at raising money, but every little helps - maybe you could help organise a fundraising event in your local community or at school.
